Nebraska's deadline is the earliest in the country and is frequently misreported as 1 August. The NDE's own 2026/27 FAQ, current as of 3 June 2026, states the deadline is 15 July.

The part the paperwork does not cover

Filing on time is the easy half. The harder half is the year in between: showing what your child actually learned, in words the reviewer recognises, without turning your home into a school.
