No one routinely. A filed notice (where still required) excuses the child from curriculum, testing and instruction-time requirements.
What you must file
One-time initial notification (may include a letter of intent)
Once per child, when withdrawing an enrolled child to home-school or choosing not to enrol. NO deadline is stated in the statute, and there is NO separate mid-year rule.

§ 53G-6-204(3), read in full 2026-09-17: 'the parent shall provide a one-time initial notification, that may include a letter of intent, to the local school board of the school-age child's district of residence.' NO AFFIDAVIT. H.B. 209 (2025) struck the whole affidavit block - the child-abuse attestation and its renewal conditions with it - effective 7 May 2025, and notarisation had already gone with S.B. 56 (2024). § 53G-6-204(4): a board may NOT require a notification from a parent who already gave one on or before 7 May 2025, 'including through a home-school affidavit'. § 53G-6-204(5): the board keeps a record and must acknowledge receipt within 30 days. § 53G-6-204(2)(b) bars a board from requiring records of instruction or attendance, credentials, facility inspection, or any testing.
The part the paperwork does not cover
Filing on time is the easy half. The harder half is the year in between: showing what your child actually learned, in words the reviewer recognises, without turning your home into a school.
That is what this tool is for. You say what your child did, in a sentence. It maps that to the published standards we hold for Utah, which today are Mathematics (487 of 496) and Science (502 of 535). Those figures count the topics we carry for ages 5 to 12 that cite one of Utah's published standards. We do not hold Utah's own standards for English and Social Studies yet, and they are being added. Physical Education is not in the app for Utah yet. A moment in any of those subjects is kept on the general map for your child's age and named that way in the record, so the record never cites Utah's curriculum where we hold none of it.
